Comment These verses make two things clear. First, Esther has enough authority to command her servant Hathach to return to Mordecai with another message (v. 10); second, her authority in the king’s court is no greater than that of any other of his subjects (v. 11). This is both her predicament and her opportunity. Her words explain her precarious situation to Mordecai. He needs to know that the king has not recently shown her any of the favour she originally
